SAY NOTHING TO BE FIRST AUSTRALIAN FEATURE FILM TO USE
ARRI ALEXA DIGITAL CAMERAS

SAY NOTHING starring Joel Edgerton and Teresa Palmer and directed by Kieran Darcy-Smith will be the first feature film in Australia to shoot on ARRI's new high-end digital camera, the ALEXA. The ALEXA has only been used to film twenty-one feature films around the world, including Martin Scorcese's Hugo Cabret and Roland Emmerich's Anonymous.

SAY NOTHING began shooting in Sydney in early December 2010 and Cambodia in January 2011.

ARRI’s ALEXA is a new compact, lightweight, professional digital camera with a price point that makes it a very viable option for low budget films. It utilises ultra-fast workflows and gives an image quality akin to 35mm film. The ALEXA features the ARRI Alev III CMOS sensor, which is a full-frame 35mm size and it has a 3.5K pixel count. SAY NOTHING will also use the new ARRI Alura zoom lenses built by Fujinon.

Cinematographer Jules O'Loughlin (September, Sanctum, Kokoda) comments: "The ARRI Alexa is without doubt the finest digital motion picture camera I have used. After comparative tests against other digital formats the Alexa was the clear winner when it came to picture quality and functionality. There is no doubt it's a game changer."

The producer of SAY NOTHING, Angie Fielder comments: 'We are very excited to be the first feature film in Australia to use this fantastic ARRI camera. Video Australasia in Sydney is supplying us with a great camera package and service, and we have been testing the system comprehensively, with excellent results. Our post house Cutting Edge has been working very hard to develop the best and most suitable pipeline from rushes processing through to 35mm film out.”

Written by Kieran Darcy-Smith and Felicity Price, SAY NOTHING is an Aquarius Films production, in association with Blue Tongue Films, and is supported by Screen Australia, Screen New South Wales and Fulcrum Media Finance. Hopscotch Films will release the film in Australia and New Zealand and international sales will be handled by LevelK.

ON LOCATION     >     THE TRAVEL BUG

“Making a program like The Travel Bug requires specialist equipment that is very reliable and backed up by great service. Video Australasia were incredibly supportive and helpful in supplying the gear for our shoot and gave us the confidence to go into the field for an extended period knowing that we could rely on our kit and the backup of the VA team. Warren recognised our unique set of needs, where we had to be able to shoot in countless scenarios from snowstorms and volcano rims to beneath the ocean, and set us up with all the necessary equipment to get the job done.”
